Justin completed parallel degrees in law and science at the University of Queensland. He majored in
chemistry, with a sub-major in pure maths. He completed his legal training with a boutique firm in Brisbane
before moving to London and requalifying as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Most of Justin’s work in London involved an international element. He focused on contentious patent
matters, particularly relating to pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, chemical engineering and computer
implemented inventions, for clients including Ajinomoto, Pharmacia Italia, Pfizer, Exxon Mobil Research and
Development, Esteve, Eurand, Great Lakes, and the London International Financial and Futures Exchange
(LIFFE). Justin gained experience representing clients in the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and in the
Opposition Division and Technical Board of Appeals of the European Patent Office. He also advised on
intellectual property issues arising in connection with the acquisition or sale of various international
pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, and electronics businesses.
Since joining Griffith Hack Justin has managed complex and high profile patent and design litigation, and
advised in connection with a number of copyright, trade mark, and trade practices matters.
