Steven is a Registered Patent Attorney and a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Prior to
Joining Griffith Hack in 2007, Steven worked as a Patent Examiner in the Australian Patent Office where he
gained significant experience in patent validity and examination procedures for both local and international
patent applications. Steven is currently involved in patent drafting, patent filings, PCT application and local
and overseas prosecution in industries such as computer hardware, electronic devices, embedded devices,
telecommunication systems, software engineering, internet technologies/applications, gaming devices,
mechanical devices and business methods.
His areas of interest include computerized hardware, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and
robotics, avionics systems and software implemented inventions. Having worked as a Software Engineer for
a global technology company prior to entering the patent field, his experience has given him an ability to
work fluently with high-tech and technically complex inventions.
Steven is also a native Chinese speaker.
Prior to entering the profession, Steven worked as a technical consultant to a large management consultant
company and also as a software engineer for IBM where he worked on some major computerized solutions
for blue chip clients. He is also qualified as a lawyer and has experience in general legal practice and
commercial litigation.
