Eliza specialises in advice and litigation in all areas of intellectual property. She has over 10 years of
national and international commercial law and litigation experience.
Eliza worked as a paralegal at Allens Arthur Robinson before working for two years in the London office of
Freshfields, Bruckhaus, Deringer. She then spent a year in Italy completing a Master of Laws (IP) at the
University of Turin and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). Eliza spent the following four years of her career working at a reputable Intellectual Property firm in Australia where she obtained experience as a trade mark attorney, a trainee patent attorney and legal experience in all areas of intellectual property.
Eliza advises on the validity and enforcement of patents and designs and has experience in patent and trade
mark oppositions, Appeal of office decisions and the preparation of evidence for opposition, Supreme Court
and Federal Court matters. Eliza has assisted in obtaining clients injunctions and summary judgement. Eliza has considerable experience in the anti-counterfeit area including the preparation of letters of demand, legal proceedings, customs border protection including legal proceedings to stop the release of goods by
Australian Customs, Anton Piller Orders and general brand protection.
Eliza also has experience in drafting various commercial agreements including research collaboration, inventorship, assignment, supply, licence and internet agreements, as well as preparing letters for IPOs.
Eliza has advised inventors, designers and entities involved in the motor vehicle and transport, gaming,
packaging, merchandising, mining, information technology, lighting, clothing, hotel, legal, communications and food and beverage industries.
In 2004 Eliza was awarded the ISPANZ prize and a prize from Microsoft for her dissertation on the patentability of embryonic stem cells. Eliza has also written articles for industry publications such as Australian Anthill, Young Lawyers and the Design Institute of Australia.
