John is a registered patent attorney in Australia and New Zealand. John’s background as a research
scientist for two large multi national chemical companies after leaving University has equipped him with indepth knowledge and experience in a wide range of technologies to assist clients in obtaining, enforcing and
commercialising protection in existing and developing technologies. John practices in a wide range of
technologies covering patents for all forms of chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering and
processing technology, particularly those relating to the production and use of polymeric materials, especially
in the coatings industries, moulding materials, environmental processes such as waste water treatments,
and biodiesel refining, pharmaceuticals and speciality chemicals, as well as general mechanical engineering
patents because of his dual areas of study.

John’s intellectual property experience also includes patenting and design registration in the general
mechanical engineering field for small to medium sized enterprises. He also enjoys a substantial trade mark
practice for both Australian and overseas clients in many and varied fields with an emphasis on providing
assistance to medium sized locally based clients. John has assisted many of his smaller sized clients grow
to become medium sized enterprises through the strategic use of their intellectual property rights.
