Description:

Tony specialises in the patenting of electronic, mechanical, electrical, mining and general engineering-related inventions. He also advises clients on a range of other intellectual property matters, including trade marks and designs. Tony has built a substantial patent and trade mark practice with local clients ranging from individual inventors to large corporations.

A significant and growing area of his patent practice relates to mining equipment and processes, such as down hole drilling equipment, fluid motors, rock breaking and the initiation of explosions.

Tony is a registered patent attorney and has extensive industry experience. As a patent examiner with the Australian Patent Office, he conducted patent searches and prepared examination reports on international applications. He has also worked at a national telecommunications corporation in its industrial property section, where he identified patentable inventions and assessed their strategic and commercial relevance to the company. When protection was deemed appropriate, Tony conducted on-line searches and liaised with external consultants to secure intellectual property rights. He also assisted in the negotiation of technology contracts and licenses.
