"Captivating ideas and providing strategic advice"

Asking clients what success means to them is vital when undertaking any form of IP protection. Nick says “Successfully obtaining a patent is fantastic, if that’s the outcome the client wants. But it is important that the IP strategy is tailored to the client’s business objectives.” For Nick, being a patent attorney is far from just drafting patents, it’s about capturing ideas and providing strategic advice on when, where and what to protect.

Nick works with SMEs to multinational engineering companies, and assists with the full spectrum of IP advice from patent protection and patent enforcement to helping clients commercialise their products including assistance with patent searching, funding, IP valuations and licencing opportunities. “With companies across the board feeling pressure from low-cost competitors, having a good IP strategy in place is important to maintaining competitive advantage.”
