"Timing is critical"

Wayne brings 40 years of international experience as an intellectual property litigator, to the IP dispute resolution table. He has been involved in a number of Australia’s leading patent cases in the life sciences sector and has a strong practice focus on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries

Wayne has particular experience working closely with generic pharmaceutical companies to obtain early product launch in Australasia. Wayne says timing is critical. “Generic companies now, more than ever, need to be proactive rather than reactive. The legal goalposts are constantly changing, so it’s vital that they have a well thought through commercial vision in place that is supported by a complementary legal strategy.” When asked about current trends in his area of focus, Wayne said that, “Australia, like the rest of the world, is on the cusp of a new wave of biologic medicines. In some ways, Australia is uniquely positioned, from a regulatory and legal perspective, to offer opportunities in that sector to innovator biologic and biosimilar manufacturers alike.”
