Event Summary

It is back for 2020! Griffith Hack is hosting the North Sydney Innovation Network's free pitch workshop and pitch night.

The workshop and coaching will begin at 3:30pm with the pitching starting at 6:00pm. Come along as a pitcher or spectator to network, practice public speaking and discuss all things business and start-up.

The Pitch Process

Pitches are 5-7min, warning bell at 5min and 'the plug is pulled' at 7min. Then a judge Q&A so pitchers will be given constructive advice on how to better sell their ideas. 

The Coach

Stevie V Brown
CEO, Small Business Marketing Coach at The Change Starter

Stevie V Brown is a Communications Specialist with 20 years’ experience. She has worked for some of the world’s most well-known advertising agencies, including Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann Erickson, and has worked on some of the world’s most famous brands, including Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, L’Oréal, Samsung, and Visa. Stevie is a professional Coach and NLP Practitioner having obtained internationally recognised formal coaching qualifications with The Life Coaching Academy.


The Judges

Tim Staley
Former Principal & Patent Attorney at Griffith Hack

Tim specialises in drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the IT, computer software, electronics and electrical engineering, and medical device areas. A registered attorney (UK & Australia) with extensive experience in prosecuting Australian, European, US and British patent applications. Tim has advised many start up technology companies on IP strategy and IP protection. Tim was a Principal of Griffith Hack since 1995. Tim also represented Griffith Hack on the Sydney Angels Management Committee.

Richard Baker
Co-Founder of Blackbird Ventures

Rick co-founded Blackbird Ventures, a venture capital firm in Australia. Blackbird invests in the most ambitious companies forming in Australia. It has been built around a group of Australia's most successful tech founders, combined with close ties to Silicon Valley. Prior to Blackbird, Rick was responsible for MLC’s venture capital portfolio with investments of over half a billion dollars. Prior to MLC, Rick co-founded two software companies: IDC Global and Right Party Connect.

Mike Nicholls
Partner, Main Sequence Ventures 

Mike has 20+ years business experience in sales & marketing, having been the CEO & MD of 4 companies with practical experience across a range of industries. He is an expert at helping very early stage startups work out how to get their first customers. Now a Partner at Main Sequence Ventures, who particularly invest in deep tech founders across the country, Mike has also been a successful entrepreneur himself and strong mentor.
