Leon is passionate about innovation and the commercialisation of inventions. With an extensive background in chemistry and pharmacology, Leon has a great ability to distil the most complex of ideas into their most basic elements, and to bring these elements together to give the best possible protection for an invention.
Leon’s expertise includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing opinions on patentability, infringement and validity, and advising on prosecution strategies which prioritise any financial and/or business needs. Leon’s practice encompasses prosecution of chemical inventions, particularly in the field of organic chemistry, in key jurisdictions such as Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Europe, China and Japan.
Prior to registering as a patent and trade marks attorney, Leon spent over 10 years in Australia and the United States undertaking research and teaching in areas such as Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, HIV, PET imaging, and organic solar cells. Leon completed a PhD at the University of Sydney.
