Matthew McTiernan

Matthew McTiernan is a patent attorney based in Melbourne.

Matthew has a background in engineering having previously worked for a UK consultancy company specialising in transient flow simulations for hydraulic systems, and as an Applications Engineer for a pump manufacturing company in Australia.  

Matthew’s experience also includes that as a Patents Examiner specialising in construction and mining applications.  This allows Matthew the insight into what Examiners are looking for and he applies this knowledge when drafting and prosecuting applications for clients.

For Matthew ensuring he fully understands his clients’ technology areas is paramount.  “This knowledge is vital in protecting clients’ ideas, and ensures they are clear on my intentions to protect the IP.”

Matthew has completed a Masters of IP Law at the University of Melbourne.
