This includes drafting patent applications, patent searching, infringement and patentability advice, patent prosecution, and management of patent portfolios. Her broad technical expertise includes household consumer products through to laser and optical instrumentation, drilling equipment and downhole tools, and sensing systems for monitoring of environmental conditions.
Her extensive experience includes coordinating a successful defence to a European patent opposition for Australia’s leading scientific research organisation and being responsible for day to day management of a large US corporate’s patent portfolio in the field of Oilfield Services.
With over 20 years’ experience in the patent profession, including time as a patent examiner, Rachel is able to assess different situations quickly and determine the right IP approach going forward. Rachel is known for her approachability and providing clear, professional advice.
Rachel says that in today’s climate ‘it’s essential that an organisation is fully aware of potential competitors and their patent activities. Patent watching, and patentability advice is key.’
