For Shannon, delivering responsive and commercially aware advice has been a guiding principle in her interactions with clients throughout her career at Griffith Hack.

Since joining Griffith Hack in 2013, Shannon has gone the extra mile to build a reputation and client relationships grounded in diligence and trust. Her elevation to Principal in our Law & Trade Marks team reflects many years of hard work, resilience, and consistency.

My promotion to Principal in a firm like Griffith Hack, which has been the most important foundation of my professional life, has been a significant personal and professional milestone for me that I’ve been focused on since the start of my career. It has been a satisfying achievement which I could not have done without great mentorship and the support of my colleagues.

From the deep south of New Zealand, Shannon began her career as a Trade Marks Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand – an experience that gave her a rare inside view of government processes that she draws on for clients every day.

“Working at IPONZ was a steep learning curve as a fresh law graduate on ‘Trade Marks 101’ and really set me up for the rest of my career,” says Shannon.

This, combined with deep expertise across trade mark practice and strategy in Australia, New Zealand and internationally, as well as excellent client management, has been a key pillar in her success.

Over the years since migrating to Australia and joining Griffith Hack, Shannon has worked with some of the world’s most recognisable brands across entertainment, fashion, automotive, food and beverage and toys, while also maintaining long-term relationships with several well-loved Australian brands.

Her passion for brands, and their connection to the products and services she learns about through work or uses in her daily life shines through. “The creativity that goes into a successful and memorable brand is really interesting, and even after all these years, I still get the odd trade mark that surprises me or makes me do a double take,” says Shannon.

When asked what’s next, Shannon says:

“I see this as an opportunity for me to take on new challenges and push myself to a new level. I’ve benefited from having some great role models who have helped me this far, and I want to use that as a foundation to continue to build on my own strengths, as well as be a positive influence to others and work with my fellow Principals to continue driving the success of the Law and Trade Mark team at Griffith Hack.”
